Central Verandahs

No. 195-197 Lord Street

This unit required very little effort to secure restoration works as the key stakeholders already had a schedule in place. I did however contact the associated relevant parties in the event that they wished to undertake their refurbishment of their premises at the same time as their neighbouring units in the vent of matching paint schemes and reducing costs further for everyone. These units have always been exceptionally maintained both before and since my contacting the key stakeholders.

Having originally corresponded with the key stakeholders, I was delighted to see a relatively swift full restoration of the Victorian Verandahs here that have been steadily maintained in impeccable order ever since 2018 when the first major works were undertaken for some time. Having adopted a positive and constructive approach throughout this has clearly been the right model to deploy which I have encouraged others to follow when getting the best from the community for the community. It is noticeable that the overhead fascia frontage has and continues to undergo refurbishment works on this landmark site which greets visitors entering directly from the eastern direction of Southport.

No. 245-251 Lord Street

I was delighted to secure a swift response from the key stakeholders here regarding a full restoration of these unique Victorian Verandahs back in 2016. They have been well maintained up to and just after 2020, but I am querying as to whether the overhead fascia frontage may now finally be included to enhance the longevity of the overall building’s aesthetic and ability to withstand the annual tarnishing from the elements.

It was a pleasure to directly correspond with all key stakeholders, especially the managing agents and the contractors themselves. This restoration entailed an extensive restoration of the associated units which commanded a wave of successive restorative works along the adjoining Victorian Verandahs covering the length of the Wayfarers Arcade Complex at 287 Lord Street spanning the original Next unit up to the Grapetree at 325 Lord Street. These units have been well-maintained since my contacting the key stakeholders, however it is hoped that further refurbishment works will include integration of the signature goldleaf coins and filigree. I was successful in securing this along the southern and northern parts of the entire complex excluding the former Department Store and the Arcade itself to date. It should be noted that the Barber Shop had already integrated the black , white and gold colour scheme which assisted in achieving the goldleaf inclusion on the other adjacent units.

This central colonnade is the longest continuous series of canopies across the high street, therefore I am pleased to have worked alongside the key stakeholders here to extensively restore this grand set of Victorian Verandahs. I am striving to see the signature goldleaf coins and filigree reintegrated during the next programme of maintenance.
